For four years following his passing, a young woman from Arkansas texted her father's cellphone number on an almost daily basis to keep him updated on what was going on in her life.

According to Fox News, Chastity Patterson texted the number to give him a recap of what was going on in her life.  How she battled (and beat) cancer, how she was taking better care of herself, and about the man who broke her heart.

A few days before the 4th anniversary of his passing, she sent a message another message.  But, this time, she got a response.

The response read: "Hi sweetheart, I am not your dad but i have been getting all your messages for the past 4 years.  I look forward to your morning messages and your nightly updates."

It turns out his name is Brad and he lost his daughter in a car wreck in 2014.

He went on to say, "“I have listened to you for years and I have watched you grow more than anyone.  I have wanted to text you back for years, but I didn’t want to break your heart.”

Chastity took the response as a sign that everything was going to be alright and that it was time for her to move on.

In a social media post, she revealed that the man she had been texting was not her biological dad, but was as close as a blood relative.  She said he was there for her anytime she needed him.  He never missed athletic events, dances, proms, or school events.
