With Thanksgiving less than a week away, many of the holiday meals that usually are served to the public will not happen this year, and some will continue on according to a report by centralmaine.com.

Two popular Thanksgiving traditions will go on this year. The Gardiner-based MSAD 11 are still putting together their annual Thanksgiving Baskets, so far over 200 will be made. Also, the Richmond Area Food Pantry is going to put on a great holiday meal. The pantry is also encouraging people to come by the pantry before they do their holiday meal shopping so the pantry can supplement what would normally have to be bought with many of the staples prepared during the Thanksgiving holiday.

It's also important to note that the pantry runs on donations and it is always accepting monetary donations to help meet the local need.

Sadly, the United Methodist Church on Green Street is not going to have its annual Thanksgiving meal event this year due to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases, they felt they simply could not have a community meal and keep everyone safe based on CDC guidelines.

If you are aware of any community meals taking place, let us know and we will share the news.

Happy Thanksgiving.
