Augusta Woman Sentenced For Sex Crimes

Jessica Cox, 32, of Augusta was sentenced to today (6/29/21) to 10 years in prison, with five years suspended according to a report by centralmaine.com
Cox had pleaded guilty to more than 20 counts of sex crimes against a child younger than 12 years old. Close to 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and also five counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
Jessica Cox was charged and now convicted and sentenced for recording and sending a sexually explicit video and multiple images of a girl who was not yet 12 years old at the time of the crimes taking place. Several of the pictures were graphic and explicit of Cox touching the child in a sexual manner.
According to the report by centralmaine.com, Cox attorney, Verne Paradie Jr. said:
“I think Jessica has, all along, wanted to accept responsibility for her actions. Of course, she’s going to pay for what she’s done, and she has accepted responsibility. She is extremely remorseful for what she’s done ”
The other person associated with this crime, Jared Jandreau, 36, of China who is accused soliciting Cox to take and send the video and pictures is scheduled for a jury trial on July 19th.
