It should come as no surprise to anyone that I consider myself a bit of a foodie, I love checking out new places, and trying new foods.
Something that I have been hearing about for awhile and that seems to be popping up around the country is "the bowl craze" , I'm talking Acai bowls, I ran into a cool lil place right down the road from Bowdoin College.
And I'm pleased to say I had the pleasure of trying my first acaí bowl this weekend and will definitely be going back for another! If you’ve never heard about acaí, I can tell you it’s a considered a superfood by some. It is a purple berry that grows in South America and it’s loaded with fiber and antioxidants.
offers several options to sample this healthy treat. They are located on Maine Street in Brunswick where my companions and I ordered four different bowls. The weather was pleasant and we were able to sit on a bench to enjoy what really turned out to be lunch.
I selected the Rio Bowl which included pitaya, granola, blackberries, mango, coconut flakes and honey. It did not disappoint. Every bite was bursting with fresh flavors.
Other choices of the day included the Bowdoin Bowl featuring açaí, blueberries, blackberries, granola and coconut flakes drizzled with Nutella.
The Maine Bowl featuring açaí, granola, chia seeds, strawberries, blueberries and honey
and finally the Paraiso Bowl that included a drizzle of peanut butter over pitaya, granola, blueberries, strawberries and chia seeds.
If you get a chance, check it out...you will love every bite!
