High Speed Chase Through Central Maine Reportedly Reaches Speeds of 130 MPH
A Madison, Maine man is in trouble after he allegedly led police on a high speed chase through Central Maine on Monday.
According to an article in the KJ, a representative for the Skowhegan Police Department says a Madison man had to be airlifted to the hospital on Monday after crashing his vehicle while trying to outrun officers during a chase that reportedly reached speeds of 130 MPH. It all unfolded during a chase that started when officers tried to pull him over, and it ended with a wreck serious enough to bring in a medical helicopter.
The driver has been identified as 36-year-old Blyn Nadeau of Madison.
Court records show he is now facing a long list of charges that include driving to endanger, aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation, criminal speed and eluding an officer. Three of those charges fall into the Class C category, which means they are felony level offenses in Maine. Criminal speed remains a misdemeanor, but combined with everything else, it adds to what is already a heavy situation.
Nadeau was booked into the Somerset County Jail in Madison on Tuesday evening. Jail records confirm he was still being held on Friday, not only on the charges from the chase but also on a probation hold and an additional charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.
He made his first court appearance in Skowhegan on Wednesday. Chief District Court Judge Brent A. Davis set bail at $2,000 cash on the charges tied to the chase.
The court also appointed attorney Ryan Rutledge from the Skowhegan firm Mills, Shay, Lexier and Talbot to represent him moving forward.
