Decomposing Body Pulled From Maine River Thursday Night, Authorities Working to Identify Remains
According to WABI TV 5, a body has been pulled from a Maine river.
The news station is reporting that the Falmouth Maine Police Department is investigating what led to a body being in the Presumpscot River on Thursday evening.
Police say the got a call at around 6:30 on Thursday evening with reports of a body floating in the river near Falmouth.
Crews responded to the scene Thursday and were successfully able to retrieve the body from the frigid waters.
Sadly, the body was so decomposed that investigators could not use any 'identifiable features' to determine ID of the remains.
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation and an attempt to identify the decomposed remains.
According to Wikipedi, Maine's Presumpscot River is approximately 26 miles long and flows through Cumberland County and into the massive Sebago Lake. The river, according to Wiki, provided important infrastructure and transportation support during the settlement and development of both Westbrook, Maine and South Windham, Maine.
