It's almost time to run your little heart out in honor of one of Maine's finest: Somerset County, Corporal Eugene Cole.

Cpl. Eugene Cole's life was cut far too short when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on April 25th of 2018.

As a way to keep Corporal Eugene Cole's memory alive, his family and community have come together to raise scholarship money via a 5k and half marathon in his name.

Last year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the annual event was held virtually unlike the previous years. This year, however, the event will be a live event again, and we are giving you plenty of time to save the date, so you don't miss out.

The 5k/Half Marathon will take place on August 29th, 2021.  The staging area for the event will be at the Mill Stream Elementary School on Mercer Road in Norridgewock.  Start time will get kicked off at 8 am and wrap up at 5 pm the same day.

Due to social distancing guidelines and recommendations, spots are limited and will fill up fast. So, don't wait.

Registration for this event is $25.00 and can be done HERE. As a way to add a little fun to the 5k and 1/2 marathon, there will be awards given out to teams for their size and amount of money raised.

All proceeds raised from the event will go directly to the Corporal Eugene Cole Scholarship Fund. If you're unfamiliar with the Corporal Eugene Cole Scholarship Fund, it was put in place to support those who reside in Somerset County who are pursuing or wish to pursue careers in public safety or law enforcement.
