1. Cascade Stream Gorge Trail, Sandy River Plantation. It's a 1-mile loop along the Cascade Stream gorge. It offers great picnic spots and awesome swimming.

2. Tumbledown Mountain in Weld. This one is probably the most challenging hike on this hike. They offer several trails and some are difficult, but the easiest trail is a moderate hike that brings you to Tumbledown Pond. It's a 2,800 foot hike. Set aside at least 3 to 5 hours to enjoy the day.

3. Wolfe's Neck State Park in Freeport. It's about a 5 mile trail that has a mix of forest and rocky coastline. Spend a few hours hiking then go shopping in Freeport.

4. Range Pond State Park in Poland. I use to bring my old dog Bubba here all the time. They offer about two miles of trails to hike that are made up of old logging roads and railroad beds. Do some hiking and then swim in the pond and pack a picnic.

5. Steep Falls Trail in Newry. It's a fairly easy 1-mile trail that brings you to the base of the falls, which are among the highest in Maine. The trail offers great views of wildlife and refreshing swimming.

6. Moxie Falls at Moxie Gore. It's a 2 miles hike at one of Maine's highest waterfalls. The hike is fairly easy but could be slippery in places.
