With another Christmas behind us it's time to look forward to the new year! So once you take down the decorations and are faced with your bare previous live Christmas tree, if you are wondering now what...here is what you need to know:

Augusta:
There will be no curbside pick-up of trees. You can drop off your Christmas trees on North Street 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or Hatch Hill Landfill 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until April, free of charge.

A few rules to keep in mind when it comes to recycling your tree, no artificial trees will be accepted for recycling. The trees will also need to be free of any decorations o tinsel. Waterville:
There will be curbside pick-up of trees. Starting December 30th within Waterville your trees can either be left curbside or can also be dropped off at the Quarry Road Recreation Area, just off North Street.

The rules for recycling in Waterville , and most municipal landfills, they do not allow any artificial trees for recycling. The trees will also need to be free of any decorations o tinsel. For other questions about recycling your Christmas tree in Waterville, contact the Waterville Department of Public Works at 680-4744.

In general, call your local public works department to inquire about specific recycling details for your community. Trees are usually chipped into mulch that is often made available to the public for landscaping needs. There are many farms that will accept your Holiday tree as well for their animals, especially goats who love to eat the pine needles.
