Year-Round Event Center Coming to Historic Central Maine Park
With all of the negativity in the news these days, it is great to be able to share some positive news with you.
It looks like one Central Maine park will be getting some major upgrades this spring.
According to the article on the KJ website, Lake George Regional Park, which is on the Skowhegan-Canaan line, will be getting several big improvements in the next few months.
The biggest will be the renovation of an old lodge. That 3,000-square-foot space will be converted into a year-round event venue. The space has an indoor capacity of about 200 people. It has a patio, an indoor fireplace, and an outdoor fireplace.
Planned updates include a new patio, a new entrance, new windows, updated lighting, and a new space for caterers. The installation of a heating system is also in the works. Eventually, an addition will be built onto the building.
Once the renovations are done the place is going to be beautiful.
Can you think of a better place to host your rustic wedding? This is going to be especially true during fall foliage season.
The article explains that the Army National Guard will be conducting much of the work. They are expected to arrive in the park on June 1.
Some of the other projects include the construction of a new access road and updates to the camp's remaining cabins.
The article explains that, until 1992, the 320-acre space was home to Camp Modin, one of the oldest Jewish camps in the country. These days, the park is one of the most-visited in Central Maine. About 20,000 people a year visit the park.
