Land O’ Lakes Removes Native American From Label After 100 Years
Land O’ Lakes is changing its packaging, removing the “butter maiden,” the Native American woman who has been on the butter label for nearly 100 years.
Land O' Lakes announced the change in a press release but made no mention of the removal, which has been called "racist" and "stereotypical" by North Dakota State Rep. Ruth Buffalo.
The new packaging is expected to be on all Land O’ Lakes products by the end of 2020.
