In December 2023, Central Maine was shocked by the killing of 52-year-old Angela Bragg.

Bragg, who went by Angel, was a loving mother and grandmother.

According to police, Bragg had been stabbed to death as she finished her shift at a Waterville store.  The suspect in the killing was 21-year-old Spridal Hubiak, her coworker.

Following the killing, Hubiak fled Maine.  A few days later, he was spotted by police in Arkansas.  A gunfight ensued.  Hubiak was injured, taken into custody, and extradited to Maine.

Spridal Hubiak's Plea

According to the KJ, Hubiak was in court at the Capital Judicial Center on Tuesday, August 27th.

During the hearing, against the recommendation of his lawyers, he attempted to enter a guilty plea, but the plea was rejected.

The article explains that Superior Court Justice Michaela Murphy met with lawyers for both sides in her chambers.  When the hearing resumed, she rejected his plea deal, saying that she had concerns about his competency.

She ordered that he have a mental evaluation and set a date of October 11th for the next hearing.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
