Maine Teen Dead Following Tuesday Afternoon Crash
According to a press release from the Augusta Police Department, a 17-year-old from Augusta is dead following a Tuesday afternoon crash in Augusta.
The press release explains that, at about 3:15 on Tuesday afternoon, the teen, who was riding a moped, attempted to turn from Civic Center Drive into the parking lot of a convenience store at 670 Civic Center Drive.
As he made the turn, he was struck by a Chevy Silverado pickup truck driven by a man from Farmingdale.
The press release says, in part:
The male operator of the moped, 17-year-old male from Augusta sustained life threatening injuries and was transported by Augusta Rescue to MGMC, he later died as a result of his injuries.
Members of the Augusta Police Department are still investigating the details of the crash. The Maine State Police assisted with the incident by reconstructing the crash.
