Maine's Hire-A-Vet Day Gets Underway In Augusta

So picture this, a statewide effort to get veterans and military family members working. This statewide campaign hopes to have at least 100 companies commit to hiring at least 100 vets or military family members within 100 days...and the expectation is for 100% success!

With the unemployment rate continuing to go up, the Maine Department of Labor hopes this year will be a huge success. In it's seventh year, the Hire-A-Vet campaign put on a sizable jab fair today at the Augusta Civic Center with the goal of getting Maine vets and military families working.

Keep in mind that even if you missed the job fair at the civic center today, this event will move to a virtual job fair for the next 99 days.

Some of the employers participating in this years campaign include, Bath Iron Works, The State of Maine, Evergreen Home performance, Vortex Services, Maine Department of Corrections, Northern Light Health, Moody's Collision Centers, NRF Distributors, Hancock Lumber, The City of Augusta, and many more.

According to the Maine career center, since this event began in 2015, the average wages have increased from $17.43/hr to $23.92/hr this year.

Although this event is focused on vets and military families, anyone seeking a job is welcomed to apply.
