A 56 year old man in Florida is suing the hospital that amputated his leg. The reason for the lawsuit is something you never have to sue over.

John Timiriasieff had his leg amputated in October and it was tossed in the trash with his name tag still on it. It was found a month later when homicide detectives were sifting through a waste management facility on an unrelated case.

The hospital could not provide the family with an explanation for throwing the man’s leg in the garbage. Hospitals usually incinerate amputated limbs, but somehow that didn’t happen in this case.

Timiriasieff is suing for emotional stress, describing what happened as ‘outrageous and beyond the bounds of human decency’. The lawsuit was filed on May 5th in Miami-Day County Circuit Court.
