According to CentralMaine.com the Hallowell City Council has given Vision Hallowell, a Maine nonprofit the approval and permission to test out a mini-park in downtown Hallowell.  A mini-park or also known as a pocket park is a small park located on a small piece of city property.

This mini-park test run will take place in a small parking lot at the corner of Water and Central streets. Faux grass will be brought in as well as chairs and a few shrubs and plants for a real park feel. The issue some business owners are having though is that parking is already so limited downtown. If this parking lot is made into a mini-park it just makes it that much harder for customers to find parking.

There are multiple visions and ideas are being brought to tomorrow's, Tuesday, July 21st Vision Hallowell meeting, and if all goes as planned it looks like the mini-park could be in by August or September.
