Despite the fact that it has caused the continuation of the drought conditions across the region, you would probably have a tough time finding someone who would complain about how beautiful the weather has been this summer (and, early fall).

Once we got past the seemingly endless rainy weekends, we were gifted with a long stretch of beautiful weather.

It looks like that may be about the change.

According to Weather.com, there is a good chance we could end up getting pounded by a Nor'easter this weekend.

What is a Nor'Easter?

If you have lived in Northern New England for more than a few years, there is a good chance that you have been through enough Nor'easters to know what they are.

The Dictionary website describes they as:

  1. a storm or wind blowing from the northeast, especially in New England.

Even though we normally associate Nor'easters with winter weather, they can happen at any time of the year, even in early fall.

A Nor'easter Could Hit New England This Weekend

The meteorologists are saying that they are expecting an area of low pressure to build up off the East Coast this weekend and start moving north, hugging the shoreline as it goes.

That setup looks like a nor’easter. These are the kinds of East Coast storms where the winds ahead of the low-pressure center come from the northeast — and they can pack a punch.

This one could hang around for a while. It may stick through Monday and possibly into Tuesday before it either weakens or drifts farther out to sea.

It is expected to start in the Carolinas on Friday and work up the east coast.

Here in New England, the Cape and Boston will see the worst of it.  However, there is a good chance that it will impact the coast of New Hampshire and Maine.  We'll likely see lots of wind and rain, along with high surf.  Some places could even experience costal flooding.

Of course, as we near the weekend, we'll have a better idea of what kind of impact we'll see from the storm.
