Bowl season has started with the National Championship game coming on January 6 with Florida State and Auburn. This early in the bowl season there are a lot of teams with records of 8-5, 7-6 and some top 25 teams that just didn’t cut it for a larger bowl. Here’s Saturdays wrap up.

The Gildan New Mexico Bowl was one the best bowl games on the first day of play. Colorado State beat Washington State 48-45. Colorado State scored 10 points in the final minute to win including the game winning field goal as time ran out.

In the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl USC beat an 11-1 Fresno State team 45-20. USC controlled the game from beginning to end. USC’s QB Cody Kessler set a Las Vega Bowl record with 4 touchdown passes and 344 yards.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was another blowout as San Diego State beat Buffalo 49-24. SDSU’s running back Adam Muema ran for 229 yards and three touchdowns.  Buffalo had three turnovers in the game.

Monday’s bowl game is the Beef ‘o’ Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg at 2pm. It pits Ohio against East Carolina. East Carolina has the number 6 rated passer in the FBS and Ohio’s QB has thrown for 20 touchdowns this season.
