The Salvation Army of the Capitol Region (AUGUSTA, WATERVILLE, WINSLOW, SIDNEY, HALLOWELL & CHELSEA) has announced details of their 2020 Christmas Assistance Program.

Keep in mind, the sign up process is much different this year due to the pandemic. Safety for all is top priority. Also note, they will not take any walk-ins this year. Everything will be handled by appointment.

They ask that you call them first at 207-623-3752 to set up an appointment before you come to their office in either Augusta or Waterville. They will be available to take your call Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 9AM to noon & 1PM to 2:30PM. They are closed on Tuesdays.

Also new this year, face masks or face coverings will be required to be worn at all times in the Salvation Army building. They are willing to make alternate arrangements when you call to make your appointment if you are not able to wear a mask.

According to the Salvation Army Facebook page:

ONLY ONE PERSON PER FAMILY / NO CHILDREN ALLOWED. Please, do NOT bring your children. Anyone who brings children will be required to reschedule their appointment – we will not be able to assist you if you have children with you. Unless you need an interpreter, only one person (mom, dad or legal guardian) per family at the appointment.

They also want you to know that are actively working on their "Coats For Kids" campaign. They have received many inquiries and they are pleased to be able to announce winter coats will be available. Free coats will be available for kids and adults.
