Supporters of an effort to resurrect passenger train service between Portland and Auburn will be unveiling details of their plan this Friday at a forum at the University of Southern Maine.

State Senator Margaret Craven of Lewiston, introduced two bills this week, that would bring as much as $38 million in state bonding to Lewiston and Auburn. One bill asks for $18 million in state backed bonds to upgrade the rail lines between Yarmouth and Auburn in the hope of bringing passenger train service to the Twin Cities.

The annual Bethel Winterfest is coming up starting on February 9th and continuing for three consecutive weekends. The Winterfest will feature a snowcano, a volcano made of snow! It all takes place at Festival Plaza in Bethel.

In fact, the winners of the 13th annual North American Wife Carrying Championship, which took place over the weekend at the Sunday River ski area, came all the way from Finland.
