Maine Teen in Critical Condition Following Three-Vehicle Crash
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a 16-year-old girl is in critical condition following a Sunday morning crash in Northfield.
The press release explains that, at around 9:20 on Sunday morning, a Maine Game Warden came across a serious three-vehicle crash on Northfield Road in Northfield.
The Warden quickly called it in to the Bangor Regional Communications Center so medical and emergency crews could respond.
Investigators say a 16-year-old girl from Northfield was driving a Honda Accord north on Route 192 and turning left into her driveway. At the same time, 50-year-old Perin Yates of East Machias was heading south in a black GMC pickup. The two vehicles collided as the Honda crossed into the southbound lane.
After the first impact, the Honda spun and hit another GMC pickup driven by 43-year-old Aaron Getchell of Whitneyville, who had been traveling behind Yates. Getchell wasn’t hurt.
Both Yates and the 16-year-old were taken to a local hospital. The teen is in critical condition but she is expected to survive.
The Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and other emergency agencies helped at the scene. The crash is being reconstructed by Maine State Police, and the investigation is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with all those involved in this incident and we keep the teen makes a quick recovery.
