The Maine Fare food festival that was founded in 2006 in Camden was cancelled in 2012 but came back the same year. Last year it was held at the Belfast Boathouse and about 3,000 people turned out. It has been cancelled again.

The Maine Fare celebrates Maine food, farmers and fisherman but it got too big for the small staff to handle. The decision to cancel the festival was difficult because so many people looked forward to it in the last weekend in June.

Ellen Sabina, outreach director at the Maine Farmland Trust, which sponsored the event along with the Penobscot East Resource Center in Stonington says the festival will live on in some other form. She’s not exactly sure what it will look like but something will happen this fall.
