Tick Season Is Here…Get The Facts!
With warmer weather comes all our insect friends, some are good, like the pollinators that help grow the fruits and veggies, and some are, well, down right nasty!
Ticks, in my humble opinion fall in the later category. We have several types of ticks here in Maine, and according to Maine.gov they can infect you with several diseases:
- Anaplasmosis
- Babesiosis
- Borrelia miyamotoi
- Ehrlichiosis
- Lyme
- Powassan Encephalitis
- Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
Keep in mind If you're bitten by a tick, it doesn't automatically mean you will get Lyme disease. Much depends on the type of tick that has bitten you and how long the tick has been attached. Make sure when you come in from being outside, to check yourself, the kids, and dogs for ticks.
