Jahmal Cole, who runs a nonprofit community group called "My Block, My Hood, My City" posted a request for 10 volunteers to shovel snow for senior citizens, and over 100 people showed up to help. Precisely 120 people showed up to shovel 50 homes.

Many people who do not live in Chicago made donations to My Block, My Hood, My City, whose mission is to help underprivileged teenagers overcome poverty by taking them on explorations focused on arts, culture, and community service.
