Waiting For Section 8? MaineHousing Has New Money For Landlords
A popular program with MaineHousing has received additional funding that will allow landlords to continue provide affordable housing according to a report by WABI.
Maine’s “HOME fund” is providing a guarantee of additional funding, up to $750,000 that will now be available for the Landlord Incentive Program, otherwise known as MaineHousing’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, or HCV.
This program provides direct payments to landlords, who would receive up to $750 for every rental unit they place in the Housing Choice Voucher program.
During the last 12 months, over 350 units were added across the state and made available for HCV tenants according to the report.
The Housing Choice Voucher program is very robust in it’s offerings, and also flexible as it also covers security deposits, as well as repairs.
MaineHousing offers several programs ranging from Emergency Rental Assistance, to Fuel Assistance, to First Time Home Buyers, and even Low Income Housing Tax Credit programs.
More information about all the programs, qualification guidelines, and how to participate in any of MaineHousing programs, can be found at the MaineHousing Website.
