Walmart is making a major move according to a story in The Wall Street Journal by  removing guns and ammo from shelves and display cases in all stores as a precaution due to what they are calling "civil unrest"

This isn't the first time Walmart has taken such a precautious move. But it is the first time that Walmart has removed guns and ammunition from sales floors in all stores that sell guns & ammo across the country.

To be clear, Walmart is still selling guns and ammo however a person interested in a buying either product will have to do so by request, and perhaps by additional new protocols until further notice. They will no longer be out on the sales floor or directly available to customers.

"We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers"

The retailer sells firearms in about half of its 4,700 US stores.
