Will Maine & New Hampshire See a White Christmas?
After a fairly mild fall, New England got a real taste of winter on December 3rd.
The snow rolled in on that Tuesday afternoon and fell for the majority of the night. While it was far from being a blizzard, much of Maine got between a half foot and a foot of fresh, fluffy, snow.
In the following days, it did warm up and melt some of the snow, but enough snow stuck around for what we would call a "White Christmas". However, Friday's warm weather and rain melted nearly all of the remaining snow.
So, where does that leave Christmas traditionalists? Will they be treated to a "White Christmas?"
Actually, as of Sunday morning, it looks like we will be getting a "White Christmas".
According to Weather.com, much of New England will see snow on Tuesday.
In Central Maine, the snow will begin in the afternoon and continue through the evening. Before it is all done, we could see as much as 5" from the storm.
In New Hampshire, the snow will start in the middle of the day on Tuesday and continue through the evening. In total, that area could see as much as 3" of accumulation.
Fortunately, as many people have Christmas Eve off, we don't expect this weather to cause too many problems. The lack of traffic will definitely make cleanup much easier.
