You Mean “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” Isn’t About Cheating?

I feel kind of dumb for not figuring this out before now, but I just realized (after hearing the song about 367 times), that the Holiday classic "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" is not about the mother getting frisky with Old Saint Nick.

Nope!

Listening to it in the car as we drove home from church last night, it dawned on me what the child in the song was really witnessing.

Clearly, the kid's father had stepped up (and dressed up) to help the REAL Santa Claus with his toy delivering duties - probably helping put together a bike or dollhouse.  And, while he was doing that, he and the mom took a break for a beneath-the-mistletoe make-out session.

Now that I understand, it jumps right out at me.
