What a brutal winter it has been. Temperatures have been well below normal and the snowfall has been historic. A silver lining has been that heating oil prices have been much lower than last year.

It looks like the lower prices have seen their low point and are now on the way up.

The Governor's Energy Office weekly heating fuel price survey this week, found the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.60 per gallon, that is up four cents per gallon from two weeks ago.

Kerosene was up two cents per gallon to $3.14 and propane was higher with an average of $2.68.

This time last year the average prices were: heating oil $3.88, kerosene $4.30 and propane at $3.51

Crude oil prices have gone up 12 to 14 percent over the past two weeks and are averaging between $51 to $57 per barrel.
