Camp Out Hunger 2020 – Help Us Feed Central Maine

2020 has been a rough year for a lot of people.  So, it is not a surprise that food insecurity has increased exponentially.  It affects your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, and maybe even your family.

If you're unfamiliar with Camp Out Hunger, it is exactly as it sounds. We camp out in the Sam's Club parking lot in Augusta. We stay around the clock for 5 days, gathering nonperishable food items and monetary donations for the Salvation Army Capital Region and other other area food banks.

Every donation, big or small, matters. So, take a look in your cabinets and see what you can find, or make it a game and get your co-workers in on helping too!

Keep in mind that buying power of the Salvation Army makes your money go farther.  For every ten dollars donated, they can feed a family of four for a week.  Incredible!

Here are a few ideas of the items needed.

• Flour
• Sugar
• Syrup
• Pancake Mix
• Ravioli
• Canned Veggies
• Boxed Pasta
• Ramen Noodles
• Beans
• Peanut Butter
• Rice
• Mac & Cheese
• Oatmeal
• Crackers
• Granola Bars
• Baby formula
• SPAM
• Canned Soup
• Condiments (Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, BBQ Sauce, Sriracha)

Additionally, you can donate health and beauty products, too.  Soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc.
