Maine Woman Pulled From Wrecked Car Just Before It Caught Fire
According to an article on the WMTW website, an elderly woman narrowly escaped being burned following a Wednesday crash in Oxford County.
Two women were injured, including one with life-threatening injuries, in a rollover crash in Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Oxford County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 4:40 PM on Route 219, also known as Bear Pond Road. Investigators say a 52-year-old Canton woman was driving a Subaru Forester westbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck several large rocks, and rolled over. The driver was ejected from the SUV and was flown to MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland with life-threatening injuries.
A 65-year-old Canton woman riding as a passenger was trapped inside the vehicle until a passing motorist stopped and pulled her to safety moments before the Subaru caught fire. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries.
Authorities have not released the names of either woman. The vehicle was destroyed in the crash and the subsequent fire, and the incident remains under investigation.
