Parts of Maine Could Get Nearly a Foot of Snow Tuesday Night
If you are one of those people who have been wishing for a white Christmas, it looks like you are going to get your wish!
A few days ago, we mentioned that it looked like we were going to be getting a pre-Christmas storm. At that time, it looked like the storm was going to bring somewhere between three and five inches of snow to Central Maine. For many, that would have been the perfect amount. It's enough for everything to look pretty for the holiday, but not enough for it to be a pain in the butt.
Well, now it looks like much of Maine will be getting significantly more than that!
Parts of Maine Could See Almost 12" of Snow
According to the latest reports from the National Weather Service, we have a Winter Storm Warning from 1 PM on Tuesday through 1 PM on Christmas Eve. The snow is expected to start on Tuesday evening and it will keep falling through Christmas Eve morning.
In total, Central Maine and Midcoast Maine could see as much as 10" of snow.
Towns in the west and north, like Fryeburg, Rangeley, and Bangor, could see up to 6" of snow from the storm.
The snow should be gone by Christmas Day and Friday (Boxing Day) will be sunny.
Keep in mind that we do have more snow on the way on Sunday and Sunday night. Clearly, we'll have more details about that weather as we get closer.
