Cony High School: To Hold 3 Days Of Graduations

According to CentralMaine.com, Cony High school in Augusta will be spreading their 2020 graduation ceremony over a 3 day period, beginning June 12th and wrapping up June 14th.

Due to the events surrounding the corona virus pandemic Cony’s traditional graduation is no longer an option, but educators wanted to make it as normal as possible for graduates.

By Cony having 3 days of smaller graduations, graduates will be able to be given their diplomas in person with up to five family members each in attendance. Family members and graduates will be screened at the door by having their temperatures checked, anyone with a fever or COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter.

Graduates, staff, and family members will be required to wear masks and keep a social distance. As each graduates name is called and they head to the stage to receive their Diploma parents and family members will be allowed into an empty section of the auditorium to take pictures. After each graduation ceremony is done, graduates and their families will be escorted out of the building so the next round of graduates can be ushered in.

Each graduation ceremony will be filmed and put on to a thumb drive or CD and given to each graduate, that way any family members that are unable to make it will still be able to watch.

On the evening of Sunday June 14th, after all ceremonies have wrapped up, graduates themselves will be putting on a drive by celebration for the city. Details on the drive by celebration were not available at this time and will be updated.
