April 22nd will be the 50th anniversary of the iconic (and sometimes nerve wracking) song, It’s a Small World. The song was first introduced during the 1964 World’s Fair in New York as Walt Disney was introducing the ride.

The ‘It’s a Small World’ ride has opened a Disney Park in five different decades. Disneyland in ’66, Disney World in ’71, Tokyo Disneyland in ’83, Disneyland Paris in ‘92 and Hong Kong Disneyland in ’08. The song is played in all five parks on average of 16 hours a day for an average of 1,200 plays a day.

The song was written by the same people that wrote ‘Mary Poppins', Robert M. and Robert S. Sherman. There was a sing-along on April 10th at Disneyland Parks worldwide as hundreds came together to sing ‘It’ a Small World’.
