Two People Are Dead Following a Fiery Fatal Crash in Central Maine
Two people are dead following an early Monday morning crash in the Kennebec County town of Readfield.
According to an article on the WMTW website, on Tuesday the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office announced that it had responded to a crash at 1084 Main Street (Also known as Route 17) in Readfield just before 1 a.m. on Monday morning.
It is believed that the vehicle involved in the crash, a Ford Flex, was the same one that sped past a Maine State Trooper on North Road in Readfield shortly before the crash was discovered. That vehicle reportedly passed by the trooper traveling in excess of 70 miles-per-hour.
The article explains that the Maine State Police trooper was, at first, unable to locate the vehicle. As the trooper continued down the road they came across the scene of the fiery crash.

The vehicle reportedly went off the road and crashed into a large tree before bursting into flames.
It is believed that speed may have contributed to the crash.
The bodies of the two people who were killed in the crash will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta to confirm their identities. We can expect the names of the deceased to be released once they have been positively identified.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
