Maine Home Depot Store Temporarily Closed Following Fire
If you are in the building trades or a do-it-yourselfer and you usually shop at the Home Depot in Topsham, you are going to want to find an alternative store.
For now, at least.
According to an article on the WMTW website, the Home Depot in Topsham is currently closed following an early Monday morning fire.
The article explains that, just after 4 a.m. on Monday morning, firefighters were dispatched to the Topsham location of the national hardware store chain. When they arrived, they found they could see smoke and flames inside the store.
Fortunately, firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The damage was reportedly limited to the cash register area, but there was significant smoke and water damage to other parts of the store.
One firefighter received minor injuries in the blaze.
It is believed that the fire was started by a walkie-talkie battery that overheated while being charged.

There is no word on how long the store will be closed.
Founded in Marietta, Georgia in 1978, as of 2025 Home Depot has about 2,300 stores. As is often typical of large hardware stores they stock tools, flooring, appliances, lighting, lumber, and more.
