Iconic Moody’s Diner In Waldoboro Closed Due To Covid-19
One of my favorite places to grab breakfast, bar none, is a little diner on Route 1 in Waldoboro called Moody's Diner. It's truly known the world over with photos to prove it once you venture inside. Usually bustling this time of year, that's not the case today.
Sadly, Moody's Diner closed yesterday (4/22/21) unexpectedly due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19. The famous diner will be closed through May 2nd, as they are "erring on the side of caution" as stated on their Facebook page.
According to an article by the Lincoln County News, there was no contact with customers by the staff member who tested positive. And due to a tough labor market there is not enough staff in place to continue to operate the restaurant until the quarantine is complete.
Moody's Diner has also had a tradition for the past 15 years called "Founder's Day" where they honor the founders of Moody's Diner, Percy & Bertha Moody. This celebration goes on for several days with special pricing and gifts to be won.
This event has already had to be postponed once this year due to seating capacity during the pandemic and now with the latest closure due to Covid-19, they may push it off until next year.
We wish them well, and a speedy recovery!
