After being on the job for just over a year, Jeremy Ashlock left his position as the executive director for the Augusta Downtown Alliance in early summer.

Following an extensive search, the organization has officially hired his replacement.

According to a press release from the Augusta Downtown Alliance, they have hired Isabelle Oechslie.

The release goes on to say that Isabelle Oechslie comes to the Augusta Downtown Alliance with years of experience in planning, economic development, and historic preservation.

Her previous experience includes work with towns like Saco, South Portland, and Damariscotta, and also through her own consulting business.  Her career has always been about bringing people together, strengthening relationships, and finding ways to build stronger communities.

That experience makes her a strong fit to help Augusta Downtown Alliance continue its mission of supporting local businesses, creating partnerships, and boosting the economic vitality of downtown Augusta.

Victoria Abbott, President of the Augusta Downtown Alliance Board of Directors, said, in part:

Her energy, creativity, and proven work with downtowns across Maine will be a tremendous asset to Augusta. We cannot wait to see her vision come to life as we continue to grow and strengthen our downtown.

During the hiring process, Oechslie stood out for her forward-looking vision for the organization, her focus on relationship-driven leadership, and her proactive approach to fundraising.

Oechslie, who recently purchased her home in Winthrop, said she is excited about this opportunity and deeply committed to the greater Augusta community. She will officially begin full time with the Augusta Downtown Alliance in October.
