Maine to Endure Furnace-Like Conditions Next Week
So far, the summer of 2024 has been the exact opposite of the summer of 2023.
Last summer was cold and rainy. This summer has been hot, humid, and sunny. In fact, the weather has been way hotter than we normally get here in northern New England.
For the last week, we have been enjoying a bit of a reprieve from the steamy weather. It looks like that is about to change, though.
Following another few days of cooler weather, the temperatures are expected to ramp up again on Sunday.
When Can We Expect Another Heatwave in Maine?
According to the Weather.com forecast, Sunday (July 28) will be sunny with a high of 89 degrees.
We can expect to get similar high temperatures for the majority of next week. As of the time this article was written, meteorologists were calling for partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 90s through Saturday, August 3.
Yes, these steamy temperatures are expected to stick with us for an entire week!
As is often the case, the coast will see similar conditions but have cooler temperatures. Coastal communities like Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Old Orchard Beach, Rockland, and Camden will see highs in the mid-80s throughout most of the week.
What Precautions Should We Take During A Heatwave?
According to Better Health, you need to stay cool and stay hydrated.
You are advised to plan ahead. If you need to work outside, you are better doing it early in the morning or in the evening.
Keep an eye on older and younger loved ones. They are most susceptible to these hot temperatures.
Above all, use your best judgment.
