Even though we have had some snow showers and mixed precipitation over the last few weeks, the warm weather we have had recently has made it look like we were not going to have a white Christmas.

Well, it looks like that is about to change!

According to the meteorologists at News Center Maine and WMTW, much of Maine will see its first plowable snow of the season on Saturday.

It looks like Friday is going to be beautiful, but the weather won't stay that way.  Friday will be sunny with a high of around 47 degrees.  However, as the sun goes down, the clouds will roll in and the temperature will drop.  Saturday will continue to be cloudy with a high of around 35.

Most projections have the snow showers starting in Central Maine at about 1 PM.  As the sun sets, the snowfall will become steady.  The good news is that this is going to be a normal snowstorm.  No crazy cold temperatures or high winds.  Just snow.

How much will we get?  Well, Western Maine Fryeburg, Oxford) will get the most - as much as 9".  In the Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Waterville area, we'll be getting somewhere between 3" and 6".  Bangor will probably see somewhere under 3".

The sun will return by Sunday afternoon.  And, we'll have some great weather for the last few shopping days.  Partly sunny on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The temperatures will stay in the normal rage for December, meaning the snow we get will probably stick around through Christmas. So yes, it looks like we will be having a white Christmas.

Obviously, if you need to be on the road on Saturday night, allow extra time to get where you need to go.  Be safe!
