Waterville, Maine, Restaurant Temporarily Closed After Someone Crashes Into the Building
When the operators of Mezza arrived at the Lebanese eatery on Friday morning, they were greeted by a shocking sight: someone had apparently driven into the building during the night.
According to a post on the Mezza Facebook page, the restaurant will need to be closed for the next few days as they make needed repairs.
One of the photos attached to the post shows a massive dent in the building. Another photo appears to show that the incident knocked over a large appliance (a stove?) in the kitchen.
The post said, in part:
So this happened last night!Unfortunately We will have to close the rest of the week.If you were out and about at 2am and have any information please let us know.
While the post does not specifically indicate that the damage was done by a vehicle driving into the building, there are not many other (logical) explanations for what could have caused this level of damage.
Mezza is located at 34 Temple Street in Waterville, in the building that was formerly the location of the Lebanese Cuisine restaurant. The eatery is owned by former Waterville mayor Tom Nale and operated by Jim Veilleux & Melissa Grant. Nale reportedly grew up in a family where Lebanese cuisine was frequently on the menu. When he saw the Lebanese Cuisine restaurant was closed he knew that it would be the perfect opportunity.
