Midcoast Conservancy Hosting “Tick Workshop” In Jefferson
Due to the relatively mild winter we had, this spring is just over flowing with ticks. I've already had several encounters myself, as well as on the dogs, and that's even extensive lawn and yard treatments.
Of course the main concern is contracting a tick borne illness, which there are several and none of them are anything you want to struggle with if you can avoid it.
The Hidden Valley Nature Center, which is part of the Midcoast Conservancy in Jefferson is hosting a "Tick Talk" this Saturday, May 22nd from 10am-12pm according to an announcement by the non-profit organization. Robin Huntley, who is an outdoor educator will make the presentation.
This workshop will really help boost your "tick" knowledge not only to help you identify different types of ticks that are common in Maine, since some are worst than others when it comes to carrying and spreading tick borne illnesses.
This talk/presentation/workshop is perfect for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors and would be especially useful for families with young children.
This even is free however you are encouraged to register as there is a limit on room capacity.
