The Science Channel and Discovery Channel have teamed up for a global competition and have turned it into a miniseries. The top prize is $30 million dollars if you can be the first to land an unmanned spacecraft on the moon.

The winning team will have their launch and landing on T.V. and will win the top prize. The spacecraft must land on the moon, travel 500 meters and send pictures back to Earth.

The reasoning behind the show is that more than half of the world's population never saw the moon landing in 1969 and this will give those people the chance to witness an ‘Apollo Moment’ of their own.

The miniseries is planned for 2015 with the launch and landing to be scheduled no later than December 31st that year.
