Iconic New Hampshire Restaurant, Featured on Guy Fieri’s Triple-D, Moving to a New Location
If you have spent much time in New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley, you probably know that the area is filled with 'iconic' restaurants.
Elvio's Pizzeria, Delaney's Hole in the Wall, the Red Parka Pub, Horsefeathers, and Tuckerman's Tavern, to name a few. Not only are the area's restaurants well known, the owners and staff are notable, as well. For example, most of the regulars at Delaney's know Dick Delaney.
It looks like you could soon join this list of notable MWV restauranteurs.
The Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery
In business for about two decades, the Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery has been known for their BBQ offerings and their beers. Guests will also note that many of dishes have a unique Asian flare, too.
Like many craft breweries in New England, they offer a range of beers, from light pilsners to rich stouts, including several fruit options. My personal favorite is Miss V's Blueberry.
Currently situated within an old farmhouse on Route 16, this building has served as a restaurant and inn for many years. Before becoming the Moat Mountain Smokehouse, it operated as a Scottish restaurant, and prior to that, it was home to a German restaurant.
In 2022, Moat Mountain was featured on Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives'.
When most of us first saw that the property was for sale, we were really concerned about what was happening to one of our favorite restaurants. The good news is that the Moat Mountain is NOT going away. Instead, the restaurant will be moving to a new location. As we understand it, that new location will be revealed soon.
Of course, this will leave a prime piece of commercial real estate up for grabs.
About the North Conway Property
According to a listing on the Badger Realty website, this property spans 4.32 acres and is situated just north of North Conway Village. The main building features 9,240 square feet of space and currently accommodates a restaurant, a brewery, five guest rooms, and a one-bedroom long-term rental unit.
This property is loaded with possibilities! You could easily keep it as a smokehouse and brewery, you could keep it as a restaurant, but rebrand it and change the menu, or you could do something completely different with it.
Like a lot of places, the Mount Washington Valley is dealing with a housing shortage. The property could easily be converted to a series of apartments.
The current asking price is $2,300,000.
You can get more details about the property and check out some pictures on the Badger Realty website.
