According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a Cape Elizabeth man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges following an arrest at a Scarborough hotel.

The man, 48-year-old Peter White, was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 29th.  His arrest comes after a week-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Cumberland District Task Force and Scarborough Police.

Authorities say they received information that a guest at a hotel on Payne Road was selling drugs, and undercover purchases were later made from White at that location.

Following his arrest, agents executed a search warrant on White’s hotel room, seizing more than 3.3 pounds of fentanyl, an ounce of cocaine base, about $2,700 in suspected drug proceeds, and additional evidence of trafficking.  Officials estimate the street value of the drugs at $60,000.

White, who was already on probation at the time of his arrest, is charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled “W” Drugs and Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled “W” Drugs.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and is being held on $75,000 cash bail, with a court appearance scheduled for Friday, May 1.
