I can't remember a time where I was this excited to be a part of an event!

We are so happy to announce that we will be hosting our 2nd annual Camp Out Hunger.  It'll take place this November at Sam's Club in Augusta!

We'll be there from Tuesday, November 3rd through Saturday, November 7th.  Feel free to stop by any time...  To make a donation or just to say, "Hello!"

If you missed the fun last year, let me give you a basic run down. Buzz and I, along with Matt & Renee from the Moose Morning Show, park campers in the Sam's Club parking lot in Augusta, where we live there for an entire week.

The ultimate goal of Camp Out Hunger is to collect as much food, and raise as much money, as we can to support the Capital Region Salvation Army and local food pantries. All of the food we raise goes directly to the Salvation Army, and any money collected will go to the United Way to be distributed to local area food banks.

And, if you'd like to donate early, you can go through Fast Eddie's Haunted Car Wash.  I It will run from 6 PM to 9 PM on Fridays and Saturdays October 23rd, 24th, 30th, and 31st at their Western Ave, Augusta location. During that time, $5 from each wash will go toward Camp Out Hunger.

If you can't make it to the Sam's Club parking lot that week, you can drop your non-perishable donations off at one of our drop-off sponsor locations. KSW Federal Credit Union, College Ave in Waterville, Goggin's IGA, Randolph, and KV Federal Credit Union of Augusta, Waterville, and Oakland.

Additionally, Patrick Linnehan from Modern Woodmen of America is doing another cash match this year! Modern Woodmen will be matching our first $7,500 in donations.. that's $15,000 if we can hit it with your help.

And of course, we have to throw out a major thanks to the Damon's Family of Stores as they are sending us a check for $500.00 to get the ball rolling and have offered to help us out on-site during the week.

Another big thank you to Ripley & Fletcher Preowned Sales and Service in Farmington for donating a golf cart for us to use that week. I bet we won't have any fun with that or anything!

Last year together with your help, we raised thousands in cash and thousands of pounds of food, and we can't wait to do it again. A new year brought a whole new book of challenges for people in our communities. The most significant change from last year is that we are now in the middle of a global pandemic. Tons of people are either out of work or reduced to limited income, which makes the need even more extraordinary.

On top of financial struggles, thousands of Maine school children are learning remotely from their homes, and, because of that, are not getting the nutritious meals they're used to getting at school. The need is much closer to home than some even understand, so with this as my first year at Camp Out Hunger, let's make it one for the books!

During this year's event, we understand that there is a pandemic going on and that coming in close contact with others isn't recommended. No Worries, though; we are going to making it easy for you to make your donations. You'll pull up to our compound, drop your food or money donations off at the back of the U-Haul truck or money jar and then drive away. It's that easy, and you won't have to interact or chat with us unless you choose to!

BIG thank you to Matt and his crew at Sam's Club in Augusta and Heather and her team over at U-Haul in Augusta. None of this could be possible without you. Additionally, a big thank you goes to our fantastic team here at B98.5; we could not host this event without our technical team, our sales team, and our outstanding Market President, Julie Beaulieu. Thanks to you all!
