According to News Center Maine, The Yarmouth Clam Festival has been canceled for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty of state regulations in the upcoming months, festival stakeholders and operational support believe canceling is the safest option.

The Yarmouth Clam Festival is an annual event that gets kicked off on the third Friday of July each year. This long-running festival has been around since 1965 and is spread out over 3 days.  Yarmouth might be a small town of approximately 9000 residents, but the Clam Festival brings an average of 120,000 spectators from all over Maine and New England in one weekend.

The Yarmouth Clam Festival is hosted by the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce and was started to raise money for several local nonprofits, such as churches and school groups. Even though the Clam Festival has been canceled, the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce and the community are still hoping to host a few events this year, but on a much smaller scale.
