If you grew up in New England, there is a good chance that you have visited the tourist hotspot of Mount Washington Valley New Hampshire at least a few times.

Located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the area has been drawing visitors from all over the world for decades.  The place features world class skiing, hiking, cool villages filled with unique shops, tax free shopping malls, and amusement parks like Story Land.

If you have never taken the family there, you really need to plan a trip.  It is also a great place to take your special someone for a romantic weekend getaway.

This video has locals and visitors really confused.

Recently, the Youtube channel ZenHarbor put out a video about how great the Mount Washington Valley town of North Conway is.  The video praises the scenery, businesses, and nearby attractions.

So, what's the problem?

Well, the biggest problem is the images and video clips are all wrong.  There are a few shots that could be of the area, but for the most part, they in no way represent the town or attractions.

Video of Downtown – As a resident and frequent visitor to the area, I knew the opening drone shot of the town did not look quite right.  I watched it three times before I was 100% sure that the video was not of North Conway.  I used Google Lens to try to identify the video.  Google tells me that it is actually video of Montpellier, Vermont.

Diana's Baths – The video talks about the well-known hiking destination of Diana's Baths.  Deep in the forest, Diana's Baths is a great place to take the family.  However, it does not look anything like the image below.

The Conway Scenic Railroad – Some of the video they show in the segment could be of the Conway Scenic Railroad.  However, after the first few shots, the editors started using video clips of amusement park trains and trains from Europe.

Story Land – The information that they provide for the beloved amusement park is accurate, but none of the images are right.  The rollercoaster they show is like something you'd find at Six Flags or Universal Studios.  The castle they show is like a real castle from Europe, not Cinderella's castle at Story Land.

The Weather Discovery Center – One of my family's favorite attractions in the Mount Washington Valley was the Weather Discovery Center.  Operated by the Mount Washington Observatory, the center was filled with exhibits that taught people of all ages about the science of weather.  There was even a simulation of the 237 MPH wind recorded on the summit of Mount Washington back in the 1930s.  Cool, right?   Sadly, the place is closed.  According to an article in the Conway Daily Sun, it closed in late 2020.
