This past weekend  was a busy one for me.  I had a huge yard sale on Saturday that was very successful, and Sunday I made my way to one of my favorite peninsulas, Damariscotta, Bristol, and Pemaquid.  The small sugar sand beach of Pemaquid has to be one of my favorite beaches, and this past weekend it was the beach of choice to spend a few hours replenishing my vitamin D.

The original building that housed Round Top Ice Cream now sits on the property known as Round Top Center for the arts. There’s a lovely new building and as a sign of the times they’ve had to make changes due to the coronavirus. They now offer a walk up window service or you can call ahead and do a pick up if you would like. Prior to Covid-19 they had inside and outside seating to enjoy your ice cream. The outside seating overlooked the beautiful fields that once held the dairy cows.

I encourage you to consider this area for a staycation. Maybe camp at Lake Pemaquid, and visit the local establishments. The area has a small hometown feel and did I mention the quality ice cream... it is well worth your time for a visit.

There are several hiking trails you can explore they take you down by the river to where the shell middens are going back to the time the Native Americans called this area home. The hikes are considered easy and well-suited for most ages. Dogs are welcome but please keep your dogs leashed.

Well there you have it...one more wonderful Maine staycation location for you and your family to enjoy. You might even see me there!
