For decades, food trucks were really just a "city thing".  The towns and cities of mostly rural Maine might have one or two food trucks.  Then, a few years ago, the concept of food trucks exploded.  They were everywhere, even is smaller towns and cities.

Of course, the pandemic really helped move the food truck revolution along.  It may not have been safe to have a meal in the packed dining rooms of a restaurant, but it was no biggie to walk up to a truck, place your order, and get a meal to go.

Now, it seems like every time you turn around, there is a new food truck festival.  Some are weekly, like the one at Congdon's Donuts, but most are special events.

The Augusta Elks Club's event, for example.  According to a post on their Facebook page, they had so much fun putting on last year's food truck festival, that they've decided to bring it back.

Their 2nd Annual Food Truck Friday, AKA Beats & Eats, will take place on Friday, July 8th, 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Food trucks scheduled to be at the event include the veteran owned Freedom Forage (serving locally sourced fresh options like elevated soups), Shawarma Express, Kabayan Philipino Foods, Fresh Ella's Ice Cream, and Roaming Eats.

We can expect them to add more food trucks as the event apporaches.

Music will be provided by the Steve Vallani Duo.

Tickets are just $5.
